Territory

There is a special place somewhere in the world, where I would send a lot of people:
- drivers that drive their cars on pavements,
- drivers that don't stop on red lights,
- drivers that park on pavements,
- many other drivers not driving by the law
- many other people ...

I would by them a train and send them to this remote place. First they would probably live in their wagons and only after a while, when they would get it, they would start buidling some other houses.

Bore me to death

Meeting # 352
"Bla bla bla bla ... we're the best ... bla bla bla bla." and they can do some shit for us (like video production), a bit more expensive than others, but someone that works with them worked for a almost big name in TV production in Russia. When I asked them why should I work with them, they got offended.

Meeting #353
"Bla bla bla bla ... we're what you need ... bla bla bla bla." two managers from a printing house came. On a question why should I work with them they answered that they don't know, just their boss send them to me."

Meeting #354
"Bla bla bla bla ... we really serve clients ... bla bla bla." told me commercial director of another printing house. "Why to work with you?" I asked. Offer was best prices, best quality in normal time. Let's try I said. We tried. But first they don't do pre-press (even after their commercialist promised pre-press), they don't do promised color proofs. They don't do a shit more. Their designer is a bit drunk (unconciouss actually) so the fonts dissapear. Their printing machine prints colors accordingly to electro-magnetic waves of Earth (as they said) - that is why they can not control the quality of match of colors.

In cyrilics it's written: "Vidkriy sekret." "Vidchineno" which means "Open a secret" "Open". It hangs on our toilette. In Slovenian "sekret" is a word for a really bad toilette. Used in forms "what is this sekret you're driving?" Meaning: "What kind of shit are you driving?"

I just love to work for free

I like to wake up in the morning in the park and go without breakfast to no office. Where I don't plug my computer and I don't get a call from my boss. I have no status meeting with my colleagues and I drink no coffee. After sucessfully finishing no job at all, I don't go to lunch and I also have no coffee.
I don't come back to office and I get no calls. Then I don't go to a meeting where I don't meet a director to direct the free of charge project.
After I came from no meeting I continue to do nothing with the no team. When it's already 18:00 I don't sit in my car and I don't drive to my home.

That's how it looks like to work for free for our clients.

Люблю проснуться утром в парке и без завтрака пойти на работу, которой не существует. Где я не включаю компьютер и мой начальник мне не звонит. Я не встречаюсь на статусе со своими коллегами и не пью кофе. После успешного выполнения несуществующей работы я не иду на ланч и опять не пью кофе.Я не возвращаюсь в офис и мне не звонят. Потом я не иду на встречу с директором по поводу проведения бесплатного проекта.После возвращения с подобной встречи я продолжаю заниматься ничем с несуществующей командой. Solution to traffic

How to handle increasing number of cars in New Europe capitals and big cities? Why not introducing a healthy alternative - bicycle? Half of year it can be used as a healthy alternative to other transport possibilities.

It of course needs some investments and constant education, communications ...

Another option is walking, but investments are bigger for the same effect in big cities while in small cities it's probably ok.

5 hours and 30 minutes left till the end of workday

"Friday night is the night I like to party the most ..." goes a song of some rappers. And in 5 hours I will be sitting in a nice restaurant close to my office. Having a "Koenigin den Bieren" (meaning Warsteiner). And some sushi.

But until then I have one more presentation, one more huge and important new business meeting and also 5 other projects going on in the office that have to be done today!

And also back to the shit told before - it's not over with work - there might be clients that were so busy that I will have to be busy during weekend. (why not sending them to hell? Because then some other agency will do the job.)

Anyway. Pistacios, sushi, beer. beer, beer, beer, beer and sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep.

People live a nice life, not a lot of poor people.
But never-the-less Slovenians are not happy about their life.

New computer

I am buying a new computer. My old Toshiba is dying. It's dying for the last one year.
First combo CD/DVD drive died. Than battery. Than plastic corpus broke. Now my comp switches off regularly.
So I decided to buy a new one.
In short list there were IBM thinkpad, IBook and a new Toshiba satellite.

Guess who won?

I am buying a new comp :))

An ad I made while I was on "vacations" in the states 2 years I ago. I just found it on a long forgotten part of my disc.  

Thank God it's Friday!

So I hope that I will get no calls from client. And that's because I don't want to work over the weekend again.

And all "over-weekend" work asked from us can be a big problem in future - people have to rest, so that they come full of energy on Monday.

But noooo - maybe some clients believe that:
- we shouldn't be respected, family life, relaxations and similar is for them only (not for their subcontractors - they should work, they get money from me!)
- the only way to test loyalty towards the client to make us busy every weekend
- lack of planning on their side constitues an emergency on our side.

Any others ideas on why I get briefs on Friday evening till Monday morning since I work in advertising?

Who is right

Question 1) When a person goes to restaurant and orders some dish. Does this person/client bring his "lunch-book" and tells to the chef exactly what does he want?

Question 2) When you go to the meat store, do you tell exactly what you want to buy or you let the butcher propose you something?

Question 3) When you order food in restaurant, do they bring you three options of the same food, just with a bit different concept (more spice, less spice and with a lot of garlic)?

It is all about the clients I have - I guess they should tell me exactly what they want in case that they pay only for a specific part of the job, but if they want us to recommend what to do - it costs more and takes much more time.

But no. All clients have some sort of feelings in their guts telling them not to trust research data and analyses, professionals and similar.

Responsibility

If anyone reads this blog of mine, I need comments on how people have to be responsible in the job they do. Capitalism is of course a battle for money. But are we responsible for what we do? Agression in ads for kids that I might do - bad, will not do it.
Use of bad music might put the whole culture a step back ...

Phone call 1: "Anze? Hello. My name is Kasander Voy. I am PR manager of a small hairdressers salon. I am also the receptionist. I was wondering if you can help me to get more clients, as we got a real competitor in next street? I mean we have some money, but not a lot. Are you interested? Can we meet somewhere next week?"

Phone call 2: "My name is Vanya Tomas. I am a brand manager of a very big and important FMCG company that produces this very cheap and lousy sausages in cans. We want to win hearts of all the consumers, since nobody really buys sausages in cans. But I am very experienced and I believe that with special approach, we can make the campaign really cheap. And of course we don't need ATL or PR. All we need is some very creative BTL with execution on European level. I need your proposal with all the creative concepts by Monday morning. I have sent brief to your assistant. Good bye." TU-TU-TU (calller hanged up).

Comments:
1st phone call: I guess I can meet them - we'll not earn a lot, but they are the client with real problem, real budget and real understaning of the solutions - regardless to smalness of the business.
2nd phone call: They need a third proposal since boss asked for 3 proposals. They don't need our help.

Maybe that is why I am Creative Director and not New business director.

Noise

Have you ever thought of how much of the things you don't notice? It is all noise. Most of the ads we do are noise. People do not notice them as messages or communication. We notice them as much as cows notice flies on their asses.
